Cats communicate constantly, mostly in ways that are easy to miss. Learning a few signals helps you spot stress early and see when your cat is relaxed and happy.

Signals to watch

  • Ears: forward and relaxed means curious; flattened sideways or back means worried.
  • Tail: held upright with a gentle curve is friendly; thrashing is a sign to give space.
  • Eyes: slow blinks are a calm, friendly greeting.
